Excellence in gynecology

Our GYN practice addresses many problems. These include abnormal uterine bleeding (heavy menses, irregular menses, postmenopausal bleeding); symptomatic fibroids; pelvic pain (chronic, acute, painful menses, and painful sex); endometriosis; menopause management including hormone therapy; contraceptive management including tubal ligation, tubal occlusion, IUD, Nexplanon, OCPs; infertility; pelvic prolapse including pessaries and surgery; ovarian cysts; vulvar itching and skin conditions; vaginitis; abnormal pap testing (colposcopy, biopsy, in-office LEEP); PMS; STDs; benign breast conditions; urinary incontinence.

Dr. Karamitsos has extensive experience and expertise in all GYN surgery, both minor and advanced operative techniques, for noncancerous female conditions. She has received advanced training in robotic assisted laparoscopy and performs hysterectomy, treatment of endometriosis, removal of fibroids, and sacrocolpopexy (to provide support for prolapse problems). Dr. Karamitsos uses minimally invasive surgical techniques to help patients to recover more quickly and easily from their surgery.

Urology Associates of the Central Coast provides urology services through five medical offices conveniently located throughout the Central Coast of California. We represent one of the largest urology groups in California and are recognized for our distinguished record of service to our patients and the medical community.

Frequently asked questions.

  • Where are you located?

    Urology Associates has office located in San Luis, Pismo Beach, Templeton, Lompoc, and Santa Maria. Address, telephone number, and directions can be found under locations.

  • How do I make an appointment?

    Appointments can be made by telephone. Telephone numbers are available here. Please have your insurance information available to give to the receptionist. If you are currently covered under a managed care plan, we can schedule your appointment more efficiently if you provide us with a physician referral number (you will need to contact your primary care physician and ask for a referral in advance.) If for some reason the physician that you requested to see is not available, we will try to accommodate your request at the earliest time available or schedule you with another physician.

  • Can I pay my bill online?

    Yes! To pay your bill online please have your account number and statement ID available from your statement and visit our online payment site.

  • How do I obtain a refill of my prescriptions?

    Please contact your pharmacy if you would like a refill on your prescription. Your pharmacy will send a refill request to our office. Allow 48 hours for our office to fulfill a prescription request.

  • What do I need to bring on my first visit?

    Once you have made a new patient appointment, our office will send you a letter confirming your appointment, a Patient Brochure, and forms that we ask you to complete.

    Please bring the following items with you to your appointment.

    • Patient Information Form
    • Health Questionnaire
    • List of current medications OR bring your medications
    • HMO authorization/referral if enrolled in a managed care plan
    • X-rays, medical records, or any reports from your referring physician
    • All insurance cards INCLUDING the subscriber's social security number and date of birth
    • A list of any specific questions you would like to ask the doctor
  • Do you accept my insurance?

    Urology Associates participates with most major insurance companies. If you do not see your insurance listed below, please call our billing department at (805) 786-2500.

    Co-payments are expected at the time of check-in. Additional payments will be charged for related procedures and test. Urology Associates will bill your insurance carrier for the balance due.

  • Do you accept personal checks?

    Yes, we accept personal checks.

  • Can I pay by credit card? Which ones do you accept?

    Yes, we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover; as well as debit cards.

  • Do I have to pay my co-payment upfront?

    Co-payments are expected when you check in for your appointment.

  • Do you have forms available online to help speed up registration process?
